Word Of The Day: Decolletage

Posted by VickyC on March 12th, 2010

Décolletage (De`col`le`tage´ / dā`kô`l’`tåzh): cleavage produced by a low-cut neckline that exposes the neck, shoulders and parts of the breasts. From the French word décolleté, its adjectival form, in current French, meaning “to bare shoulders”.

I figured posts to do with boobs and clothes would bring in more readers from both the male and female demographic..

I saw this picture yesterday morning of Sophia Loren looking rather fabulous. At 75, she was rocking a minidress, showing some (presumably surgically enhanced) cleavage, with gorgeous legs… Behold:

Apparently, Ms Loren once said, “A woman’s outfit should be like a barbed-wire fence – serving its purpose without obstructing the view” – well this outfit certainly fits the bill! I think when your legs look as good as this, the “no mini-dresses over 45″ rule is out of the window.

But speaking of barbed-wire fences and things that serve their purpose without obstructing any view, let get back to our word of the day. Guys, instead of telling a girl, “hey, nice boobs”, why not consider something like “your decolletage is simply delightful”. Here you have alliteration and nice, uncrass compliment all in one!

Ok, so there is a new decolletage enhancing product that became available in the UK this week – The Instant Lift Under Bra. You wear it with your bra and supposedly, it gives a subtle, natural lift to the bust. It is also designed to make the wearer have better posture. Check out a before and after picture, and see how happy the model is with a more defined cleavage! Maybe the bra somehow attaches itself to her smile muscles too…?

So, what magical contraption is able to do this?! Well, it looks a bit confusing, and I’m sure most guys won’t be too happy with having hooks in both the back AND front, but I’m sure they’ll eventually figure it out!

So guys, just beware.. There may be more hooks to deal with that you initally believed there to be. I always felt a bit bad for guys.. You see a girl looking all done up normally, and then you wake up next to them one morning and they look completely different with no make up on.. or it’s half smeared across her face and the rest is on your Egyptian Cotton sheets.. If you think about it, us girls get our hair coloured and extended, tips on our nails, wear push up bras and high heels, and Spanx. I mean, it’s false advertising really isn’t it!

I can’t imagine it’s too comfortable. And someone with *really* big boobs wouldn’t be able to wear it, as their boobs would end up being in their neck – which isn’t really desirable either.

And this device looks a bit like a parachute harness or one of those police gun holding, holster things or one of those child harnesses that mothers put on their toddlers.. To be quite honest, it looks like a woman woke up one morning and accidentally tried to put her bra on backwards and found that it worked better that way!

Realism is so much better than architecture..? What do you think?
