Crochet Purse Version 1.1
Posted by VickyC on September 8th, 2010I need more yarn!!! I started a new purse – since the other one was done..
As I was stitching in the lining, I realized that the light color of the bag would get SUPER dirty SUPER fast. So to deal with that, I decided to do a darker color for the bottom and handles – since those are the places which would get grubby the quickest.
So I started with the bottom in dark brown:
And I wanted to learn how to crochet stripes.. So I looked through a few tutorials online.. and it looks a bit funny…
It’s ok – but not perfect… But hopefully it will be!!!
I haven’t stitched the ends in yet so it looks a bit weird.. But I did stitch the ends in of the bottom stripe, where the dark brown turns into that latte/cappuccino color.. And that looked *really* crooked when it was done, but I sort of cheated (shh) and used the ends of the threads to fill in the gaps of color that were missing! and I don’t think it looks too bad!
So I will have to do that for the rest of the stripes when I’m done.
Anyway, here is the bag so far.
Also I want fabric handles on this crochet purse.. And I’m trying to figure out how to make it work without stretching the yarn and without it looking like garbage.
I have a feeling that I’m going to have to go through a LOT of yarn before I have a super awesome crochet purse… Not that these ones aren’t awesome – just that they’re the practice ones!
Maybe I should ask for a sheep for my birthday…? Actually, alpaca’s are cuter!!
