Why social networking makes us feel like we've failed at life.

You know the feeling you get when you log onto Facebook and you see a new album posted by a friend’s younger sibling, and it’s their wedding pictures. Or when there’s a status update from an ex saying that he’s taking his girlfriend to Cabo. Or there are someone’s engagement party pictures or baby shower pictures. How does it make you feel?

I’m always happy when I see that people are happy and doing well, but secretly, I’m actually a jealous crazy person. But it’s not that I’m not happy with my life right now, because I am, but I guess it really gets to me when people younger than me already have everything together. Every girl has done the “backwards life math” that makes guys think that we actually are backwards! I remember I rattled this off to my current boyfriend not long after we met and he looked at me like I had been taking some serious mind altering drugs. He thought I was a crazy person. To think that we’re still dating!! Ok lets do some girl math. For example take the following scenario: you want to be pregnant or have a baby by the time you’re 30

Ok, so no one wants to have a baby the second that they are married – we’re not the Duggers over here! So, say that we allow 2 years of married life before baby – which would put us at being married by 28.

But you want to be engaged for a year, so you have time to plan everything and throw a sufficient amount of Bridezilla hissy fits before your big day, so that means you have to be engaged by the time you’re 27.

But you don’t bump into some guy on the bus or at the grocery store and have him propose over coffee the following day.. Again, we’re not the Duggers here! You need to date for 2-3 years before you get engaged. I mean, he needs to know your style in order to know what kind of diamond to buy you.. Hello!

So that puts us at having to know the guy (or at least know of him) when you’re 24-25 in order for the backwards math list to work. What that tells me is that I’m behind schedule!!!

Christ, maybe I should become a Dugger..! It would take all of the stress out of everything! They don’t lark about; they just pick their mate and stick with it.. Kinda like penguins or swans or something.. I don’t remember which animal it is that mates for life. Regardless, I’m secretly jealous of their lives too. Yeah, I said it!

Like they’re so pure and un-jaded by TV and society. They don’t seem to worry about waiting in line at H&M to buy the newest pair of Jimmy Choos. Yet they do have the sickest cameras and they all have iPhones… ?! But they don’t spend time fretting over Facebook or picking apart a text message or voicemail from a boy. And they’re pretty much guaranteed life as a housewife – which would be great. I mean come on, what woman wants to juggle a career with babies and housework etc? I certainly don’t.. I guess I’ll have to start buying lotto tickets and buying scratchies..

How will the golf master get out of this major hazard?

Tiger Woods & wife Elin Nordegren at the US Open

I didn’t want to turn this into a gossip column, but I couldn’t help myself with this Tiger Woods stuff. So 8 women have come forward claiming to have been “involved” with the world famous golfer, with another 2 being “unconfirmed”. I’m sure that number has substantially increased since I wrote this..

But as it stands, pretty much every single girl has gone and run their mouths to a tabloid.. No doubt for substantial amounts of money. But Tiger Woods has still yet to say anything to anyone. Hasn’t Oprah been trying to get him to talk and stuff?

At this point, if even just HALF of the stories turn out to be true, its bad. Even if he has some kind of David Duchovny “addicion” problem, this behaviour is not ok – at all.

It just really really bothers me that all these women are selling their stories. Like REALLY?! Are you really that short on dollars?! Is the porn industry being hit by the recession?! Do you not have even a tiny baby speckle of respect for yourself?! And what about the one who was apparently cheating on Tiger Woods with George Clooney??? I’m sorry, I think I need to draw myself a chart. I can’t keep up! Just kidding.. I’m sure every other blogger has made a chart, go check theirs out – give them some views, I’m not wasting time on that lol!

And also, Tiger’s sponsers are dropping him . I wonder where they would have drawn the line.. Would 1 or 2 women have been ok? Or maybe even 5-6??

Anyway, back to these women. One was on the Today show, and another one issued an apology to Tiger Woods’ wife via Entertainment Tonight. OUCH! Are you kidding me?! Can you imagine what his wife must be going through.. I mean, it must be bad enough dealing with stuff like this in the privacy of your own home.. But to have all of this aired out in the open is ridiculous. And to have one of these women APOLOGISE to you… Oh man, I would be SO MAD!!! She must have known that something was going on – maybe not to the extent that it apparently is….

But I mean when it comes down to it, he’s just a guy who made a REALLY big mistake – several times. He doesn’t owe anyone except his wife and children. He’s famous for his golfing abilities – not his vow keeping abilities. He’s not a saint, just a man who happens to be a damn good golf player.

And the people who are going to stop buying and using Nike golf clubs because Tiger Woods cheated on his wife are just ridiculous. What, your clubs are all of a sudden going to suck because of this story? I don’t think so. There’s just going to be another story like this in a few weeks.. And then another one, and another one. In a few months time, this will all just be dust in the wind. No one will care about it any more – with the exception of his wife.

It makes me sad that their children will have all these articles and videos to look back on when they’re older. What will they think of their parents? It’s not fair. And these women.. Half of them probably haven’t even met him, and just want their 2 minutes of fame – but with todays gossip columns, they’ll be all over TMZ exiting clubs or getting their hair did. Yuck. It makes me mad.

Just as a quick addition to this, an apology has been posted on Tiger Woods’ official website:

12/11/2009

Tiger Woods taking hiatus from golf

By Tiger Woods

I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.

I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What’s most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.

After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.

Hopefully no more shady women will come out and sell their “stories” to the tabloids and the Woods family can deal with this matter privately.

Have a cheating spouse? Sue their lover!

This won't end too well...

Lovers – watch your backs: There’s a new hot lawsuit in town. Actually, it’s not really new; as the Alienation of Affections tort has been around for over 150 years. It falls under the category of Dignitary Tort – as the defendant (extra marital lover) directly causes harm to the plaintiff’s (party who is being cheated on) human dignity.

Since the 30′s, this tort was abolished in most states in the USA, but is still recognized in Hawaii, Illinois, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Dakota and Utah. 150+ years ago, this suit was used primarily because women were seen as their husbands property, so instead of husbands going after their wives lovers with shotguns, they would take them to court. In today’s money-grabbing society, people are driven to take their spouse’s lovers to court for money and, of course, for the sweet, sweet revenge. For example, juries in North Carolina have awarded over $1 million on several occasions.

So , if you’re going to be cheated on, it would be ideal if it’s with a high-flying business woman or a neorusurgeon – basically someone who rakes in a LOT of dollars. Lets think about the biggest scandal of the moment – Mr Tiger Woods. If any of his flings were married, their jilted spouses could have the opportunity to go after the richest golfer in the world. Or alternatively, if any of his flings were loaded (in terms of money – of course..), his wife could go after them. In any alienation of affection case, a super-extra affluent paramour makes for the best target.

According to the states that have dropped this lawsuit, the threat of legal action helps to protect the sanctity of marriage in the long run. I can see that as making sense. I mean, otherwise, everyone would be suing everyone else over everything. But, according to Wiki, there are several things that need to be present in order for these cases to hold water:
1. The marriage did entail love between the spouses to some degree
2. The spousal love was alienated and destroyed
3. The defendant’s malicious conduct contributed to/caused the loss of affection
4. The proof of extramarital sex is NOT required
5. It is NOT necessary to show that the defendant was out to destroy the marital relationship
With that being said, the defendant can argue that they did not know the object of their affections was married. Also, a defense cannot be established on the grounds that the couple had prior marital problems.

As a law from 150 years ago, it makes sense.. “Don’t go after the guy with a shotgun, take him to court.. You might be awarded a few chickens and a cow…” – Sounds like a pretty good deal, right!? But today, just because this sort of conduct is considered distasteful does not necessarily mean that it deserves legal address. It’s not considered illegal anymore.. But most people will think that you’re an a**hole if you are adulterous. Once you decide to take the extramarital partner to court, you can bet that all of your dirty laundry will be aired for the world to see. It may come out that your spouse never loved you in the first place, or maybe your spouse will tell you that your looks have gone, and they wanted an upgrade to a more recent, sporty model… Not at all pleasant things to hear. But in these cases, the cheating spouse is the one responsible as they stopped honouring their marriage contract. If you’re going after the mistress, then I’m about 110% sure that it’s for the sake of money and revenge – not necessarily in that order. Or maybe you will want to go all 19th Century on them and go after them with a shotgun…

In terms of Tiger Woods & his wife, although they live in Florida – a state that does not recognise alienation of affection, IF any of the alleged cavorting took place in an alienation of affection state then he better watch his dollars. Today, these cases pretty much NEVER make it to trial and are dealt with by out-of-court settlements.

This dates back to the time when brides were called brides because their husbands were given a “bridal” to control them – as you would with a horse. And the groom was called a groom because that’s what you call someone who is charged with caring for an animal… With that being said, is the institution of marriage outdated? Should laws like this be completely removed? Should we take a page from the book of Islam and deal out lashes? Discuss…

Young couple had lives ruined by social services after they were not allowed to marry. Now they are on the run because they face having their unborn child taken away from them.

September 2009 – Young couple Kerry Robertson, 17 and Mark McDougall, 25 had planned their wedding. The chuch was booked, the wedding rings and dress had been purchased and the reception was organised. But 48 hours before they were due to say “I do”, social services made the couple cancel their wedding, claiming that Miss Robertson “did not understand the implications of getting married”. The young bride, who was 5 months pregnant at the time, was absolutely stunned when social workers arrived at her home claiming that the marriage was illegal under Scotish law because Miss Robertson lacked the mental capacity, due to leaning difficulties, to understand what the constitution of marriage is really about.

The young couple tried to tell the social workers that they love eachother and did not want to have a child out of wedlock – but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Subsequently, the social workers succeeded in preventing the couple from getting married.

But sadly the misfortune for Miss Robertson and Mr McDougal did not end there.

November 2009 – In the last few days, social workers have threatened to take their baby away from the young couple when he is born, as Miss Robertson is apparently unfit to look after her unborn child. It is unclear of the nature of Miss Robertson’s learning difficulties, but in my opinion, this young lady is already more of a parent when compared to other underage mothers. The couple had already chosen a name for their son – Ben, and have brought clothes for him.

Her fiance has said that, although she is not an academic person, she can read and write – allbeit not very well, but she was attending college to catch up with her schooling; she is “nowhere near as stupid as social services are making out”. He admitted that he was not even aware that she had learning difficulties of any kind until 2 months into their relationship.

The cheif executive for Enable Scotland, a charity for people with learning difficulties, said “people with learning disabilities do not have loving disabilities”.

The couple have since fled Scotland and are believed to be living somewhere overseas to protect their unborn child and to keep their family together. They had offered to attend parenting classes and have full support from their families and friends.

With the number of stories about neglectful parents, and young mothers popping out more babies to get more government handouts, you would think that a young couple who are trying to create a proper, loving family environment for their unborn baby would be encouraged and receive help from the local authorities. But instead they are being treated extremely unfairly by these barbaric bureaucrats. I’m not sure what is more infuriating – the fact that Miss Robertson is not even allowed to prove the fact that she has the capacity to be a good mother, or that the baby’s father isn’t even considered. Why is Mr McDougall not being allowed custody? And the social workers – they will quite happily leave children with “parents” who are feral, underage, alcoholics and/or benefit cheats in homes that have a “New Daddy” every weekend, while this poor young lady isn’t even given a chance. IQ has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to love. The “Big Brother Knows Best” philosophy of today’s Britain, is truely horrifying. This is yet another example of “Common Purpose” at work. The fact that a few paper-pushers in a office somewhere can tick a few boxes in an attempt to decide the fate of a young lady who they deem unfit to parent is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds like Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. It’s like they are fleeing from the Gestapo. This girl is not mentally insane – they were just easy targets. Social services have to appear as if they’re busy doing something, even if it means that they are ruining this couple’s life.

Unfortunately, for this couple, the fact that they are running away will probably be used against them in court. I sincerely wish Kerry, Mark and Ben the best of luck, and I hope that they can keep their location secret for as long as possible.

September 2009 – Young couple Kerry Robertson, 17 and Mark McDougall, 25 had planned their wedding. The church was booked, the wedding rings and dress had been purchased and the reception was organised. But 48 hours before they were due to say “I do”, social services made the couple cancel their wedding, claiming that Miss Robertson “did not understand the implications of getting married”. The young bride, who was 5 months pregnant at the time, was absolutely stunned when social workers arrived at her home claiming that the marriage was illegal under Scottish law because Miss Robertson lacked the mental capacity, due to learning difficulties, to understand what the constitution of marriage is really about.

Kerry Robertson and Mark McDougall have fled Scotland

The young couple tried to tell the social workers that they love each other and did not want to have a child out of wedlock – but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Subsequently, the social workers succeeded in preventing the couple from getting married.

But sadly the misfortune for Miss Robertson and Mr McDougall did not end there.

The couple had already chosen a name for their son – Ben, have brought new clothes for him and talk to him every day.

Her fiance has said that, although Miss Robertson is not an academic person, she can read and write – albeit not very well; she was attending college to catch up with her schooling; she is “nowhere near as stupid as social services are making out”. He admitted that he was not even aware that she had learning difficulties of any kind until 2 months into their relationship.

The chief executive for Enable Scotland, a charity for people with learning difficulties, said “people with learning disabilities do not have loving disabilities”. He is completely right; IQ has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to love.

The couple have since fled Scotland and are believed to be living somewhere overseas to protect their unborn child and to keep their family together. They are living with the hope that they will be able to provide their baby boy with a stable life – away from the authorities that want to take him from them. They had even offered to attend parenting classes and have full support from their families and friends.

With the number of stories about neglectful parents, and young mothers popping out babies to get more and more government handouts, you would think that a young couple who are trying to create a proper, loving family environment for their unborn baby would be encouraged and receive help from the local authorities. But instead they are being treated extremely unfairly by these barbaric bureaucrats. I’m not sure what is more infuriating – the fact that Miss Robertson is not even allowed to prove the fact that she has the capacity to be a good mother, or that the baby’s father isn’t even considered.
