Oh My! Being in Europe, I’m WAYYY behind on all of the good TV – and I don’t even know what is premiering when etc! So you can imagine my surprise today when I realized that I’d missed episode 1 of season 7 (or season 6) of The Hills: Put On A New Face. I didn’t even know it had premiered yet!!!! I’ve probably missed the premier of Jersey Shore too!

There are so many things I want to talk about! I think Heidi’s face and Kristen Cavallari are good places to start!

Heidi 3.0… Where do I start?! I like how they didn’t show her face until like 10 minutes in.. while showing pictures of Heidi growing up. She was so pretty. It actually makes me sad. Watching her mom and sister listen to her rattle off her list of procedures was just ridiculous. Her eyebrows.. she couldn’t even cry properly! And she wanted bigger boobs?! “I actually wanted bigger ones but they wouldn’t fit in” oh lord.. She should have seen a psychiatrist instead of a surgeon. Seeing what it did to her mom made me upset, she was so sad. Even in the After Show, they said that it was like a “genetic insult” – which is so true!

And when they were having supper, and she couldn’t eat it made me feel bad. When her mom said “Enough, it’s going too far” – I hope Heidi actually listened to her… because it is enough, and it has gone too far. Granted, her mom could have been talking about the comments she was making, but I think she meant Heidi’s surgery.. Even Spencer Pratt, who called her naive, wanted to go home with her for support.. but I think Heidi secretly didn’t want her husband and mom in the same room because they would agree about her surgeries being ridiculous. Spencer even said that the thing he liked most about Heidi was her hair! :s She just looks *completely* plastic. And it’s really sad. Ok, Kristen Cavallari. I would not want to irritate her! She has SUCH a short temper.. I actually don’t think she’s on drugs – and I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t be caught chilling with crackheads, as Lo so nicely put it! I actually think she would be fun to party with, as long as I didn’t piss her off.

I miss how The Hills used to be – dressing up for dates, calling boys… Now it’s like plastic surgery, marital problems and crackheads. It was a very emotional first episode.. I can’t wait for the rest of the season! I’m sad that it’s the last season, but I’m glad in a way. For Heidi and Spencer, I think they should get out of the limelight and work on their marriage. And I think the rest of the cast will probably be quite happy with not being followed around by cameramen every day!

According to research published by The Journal Of Management, today’s kids are lazy. By kids, the researchers mean Generation Y – which is pretty much anyone born after the mid-eighties.

It basically says that the new graduates who are entering the workforce believe they deserve jobs with big salaries, a fancy title and plenty of leisure time – without having to put in the hours. They want an easy pace and are likely to be unwilling to work overtime.

The study, done in the US, reports that Generation Y is made up of young people who have an unrealistic sense of entitlement. The director of British superstore Tesco, offered the following opinion yesterday, “growing numbers of school leavers have attitude problems and believes the world owes them a living”.

So what is to blame here? Maybe a lack of discipline coupled with the dumbing down of the education system.. so that these kids leave school, thinking that they’re geniuses, having never been put in their place – for fear of “hurting their feelings”.. So the reality that life is tough hits them like a ton of bricks. And then they’re put in the work force.. where they don’t fare too well, because they’re not used to being told what to do, nor were they taught normal etiquette – i.e. standing when someone of a higher position enters the room..

These kids don’t really stand much of a chance. AND they watch their MTV with things like Jersey Shore and The Hills, where these kids are rich and living in beautiful apartments – sure, they work, but they spend most of the day shopping or tanning. So it’s a bit of a shock when you have to go out into the real world and make yourself a budget that includes things like toilet paper and light bulbs.. And you’re living in a dirty little apartment that’s probably the size of Lauren from The Hills’ shoe closet. Real life isn’t a walk in the park for most of us.

I’ll be the first to admit to being a bit sloppy when it came to dressing for work, and I’ve done my nails at my desk on a few occasions.. But when it came down to it, I’d put 150% into work.. If something went wrong, I’d lose sleep over it and give myself stomach aches.. I guess I’m more cut out for work like basket weaving – something not too stressful.

I read somewhere yesterday that they are advising teachers to learn “intimidating behaviour” with which to deal with difficult kids in school. They said something like, if you see a group of kids doing something naughty in the hallway, then walk up to them slowly – maybe like a bit of a gangster, staring them down so that they start to feel intimidated.

I don’t know. It seems like you can’t win. Working life is something that you have to “WORK” at. You have to WORK you way up, to EARN a better position and a higher salary. I know that not all kids are like the ones in this study.. and i sincerely hope that respect and a good work ethic aren’t completely lost in this new generation.
